Reorganise your Instagram feed: review before changing posts
In short
Reorganising a business Instagram profile starts with its existing posts and the intended content system. Distinguish your own profile grid from the home feed you view. Check available controls in the actual account before changing anything.
A business profile can accumulate useful work alongside outdated offers and several visual styles. Begin by identifying what remains accurate and what needs attention. Reorganisation need not start with deleting history.
For Arabic and English content, include the language, current contact route and role of each post in the review. A visually neat profile can still contain an old price or an unavailable service.
Options to review before changing posts
| Possible action | Intended role | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Reorder, where available | Change profile arrangement | Actual account controls and preview |
| Archive, where available | Hide selected material without choosing deletion | Current behaviour and recovery path |
| Pin, where available | Highlight relevant current posts | Available controls and resulting profile |
| New content system | Connect future publications | Templates that survive a changed order |
An app update does not by itself prove that a feature is available to your account. Check before planning around it.
Distinguish the profile from the home feed
Meta’s March 2022 explanation of Favorites and Following concerns views of content from other accounts in the home feed. It is not documentation of editing the order of your own profile grid.
For a design brief, use the precise phrase ‘our profile grid’. Keep recommendations about its composition separate from promises about what other users will see in their feeds.
Does ‘sort my feed’ mean design or viewing preferences?
The phrase can describe arranging your business’s posts or choosing the content you personally see. A brand project concerns the former: content roles, presentation and a manageable transition.
Inventory accurate and outdated material, then plan new posts within the chosen system. Make the plan useful even if a desired rearrangement control is unavailable.
Verify rearrangement before relying on it
Inspect the account’s current options and, where offered, the actual preview and confirmation behaviour. This article does not establish feature availability or a menu route for all accounts.
If the control is absent, continue with the content inventory and future templates. Do not remove useful material merely to imitate an idealised preview.
Record an account check clearly
| Field | What to record |
|---|---|
| Environment | Date, operating system and app version |
| Account | Relevant account type, without credentials |
| Control | The label actually visible |
| Before | Current profile screenshot |
| After | Observed result and order |
This is a proposed procedure, not an account test already performed for the article. Record only controls and results actually observed.
Consider archiving separately from deleting
Where the account offers an archive option, review its current explanation and recovery behaviour before use. Do not assume hiding, archiving and deleting are interchangeable.
Candidates for review include expired announcements, discontinued offers and inaccurate contact information. A useful post in an older visual style can have a different value from a misleading current claim.
Highlight the important current posts
If pinning is available, choose posts that explain the offer and show relevant work. Inspect the resulting profile instead of assuming a fixed number of positions or universal behaviour.
Assign an owner to review highlighted information when services, availability or contact routes change.
A new order alone is not a content system
Agree colours, type, image treatment, content roles and recurring templates. These decisions help later posts remain related even when urgent news changes the planned order.
Kate Sun’s documented grid, carousel and story templates share a visual direction. The example illustrates recurring rules, not proof that reordering itself improves reach.
Connect new content with existing rules
ESA Optim Trans documents social work connected to its business and wider identity. Use genuine business subjects to plan new posts rather than filling colour slots without meaningful content.
Review large combined images as individual posts too. An isolated crop should not need its neighbour to explain the offer.
A practical cleanup sequence
Capture the existing profile, mark content accuracy and value, then define the future rules. Consider account actions only after that review and only where the controls are available.
Preview new content and test a changed order. Assign approval and publication responsibilities so a clean presentation can be maintained after the initial update.
Inventory the content before editing the account
Record each post’s subject, language, accuracy and intended role. Correct business information deliberately; moving a misleading post does not fix its contents.
Pucca Diana documents a related social system. The record is not a log of how many earlier posts were moved, hidden or deleted, so no operational account history is inferred here.
Plan the target outside the account
Use an editorial preview to connect explanations, work examples and offer information. Kate Sun’s separate grid, carousel and story applications illustrate why the content types need their own roles.
The preview is a planning tool. It does not publish posts or prove that an account change has been made. Each item should remain meaningful outside the full grid.
When professional help is useful
Support can help when the profile is part of a rebrand, several people create content or the templates are difficult to maintain. Commission the missing rules and working files rather than only a polished preview.
The Instagram grid service starts from $480 (≈ AED 1,750) for around nine posts. Technical crop planning is covered in the grid format guide.
Scope and cost of an update
Specify inventory review, new content, editable templates and account work separately. Define what stays, who approves and who performs any operational changes.
The delivered grid demonstrates design work. Reach and enquiries need their own dated account evidence. Send the current profile and next planned topics to define the work without assuming every existing post needs replacement.
